We are so easy to find.
We're only 10 minutes southwest of Rapid City yet located on several acres of country property right at the foot of the Black Hills. We are close to Hwy 16 on a paved road.
Our location is a great starting point that leads you to the many attractions the Black Hills has to offer. You have to pass us to
get into the Black Hills so this location is a great "base" to start your daily
trips from. Don't forget to check out my "Area Attractions" page.
DIRECTIONS from
the AIRPORT
When you leave the airport, head towards
Rapid City. After going about 5
miles, you will turn left on Truck Route 16 which turns into Elk Vale road then turns into Catron Blvd. After going about 8 miles, you turn left on Hwy 16 and
go 2 miles. When you are parallel to the
huge dome of the Reptile Gardens, you then cross over the highway and within a minute you will see Sweetgrass
on the left. Turn in the driveway and follow the OFFICE sign, come on up the stone steps. Please ring the doorbell -- I can't hear knocking -- and then I usually need about a minute
to get there! By the way, I doubt any of the map programs on the
internet are aware of these directions since
Elk Vale (Truck Route 16) just opened late 2005.
DIRECTIONS from HWY 90 (heading east towards Rapid City)
If you are on Hwy 90 heading toward Rapid City, you have 2 different routes you can take.
If you are coming from the west, when you
see the signs directing you to Mt Rushmore
(Hwy 16 which is also Mt Rushmore Road), merely
follow the signs. This takes you through
Rapid City. If you wish to circumvent
Rapid City, then continue driving past Rapid
City on 90 another few miles and take the Elk Vale exit (aka Truck Route 16) and follow it until
you get to Hwy 16 (about 8 miles) and then
turn left on Hwy 16, go another 2 miles and
we are across the highway from the Reptile Gardens. When you are parallel to
the huge dome of the Reptile Gardens, you then cross over the highway and within a minute you will see Sweetgrass on the left. Turn in the driveway and
follow the OFFICE sign, come on up the stone steps. Please
ring the
doorbell -- I can't hear knocking -- and then I usually need about a minute to get there!

DIRECTIONS from RAPID CITY
As you leave Rapid
City heading southwest on Mt. Rushmore Road (aka Hwy 16), you go about 6 miles. When you reach Reptile Gardens, turn
left across Hwy 16 right before you pass their huge dome (which houses beautiful plants and exotic birds). Within 30 seconds you will see a small restaurant,
Shipwreck Lees, and then within 10 seconds you
will see Sweetgrass on the left. Turn
left into the large driveway and just
as you pass the garage, you will see stone
steps and an "OFFICE" sign, then
come on up the stone steps. Please ring the doorbell -- I can't hear knocking -- and then I usually need about a minute to get there! I doubt any of the map programs on the
