~~~~~WORKAMPERS~~~~~ ABOUT THE LOCATION AND OUR “MOM –n- POP” BUSINESS
SPECIFICALLY FOR THE B&B · Preparing rooms for next guest, sometimes maintenance stuff. · Food prepping for breakfast (done the day before) – includes things like making gravy for biscuits & gravy, putting together simple casseroles, etc. As you can see, nothing really difficult. No fancy food! · After breakfast, help with clean up and washing dishes, etc., using a commercial dishwasher/sanitizer (only a few things are done by hand – like Teflon pans, etc) ·
Helping
with the laundry SPECIFICALLY FOR THE GRILL/BAR Shipwreck Lee’s is small, 8 tables and 4 bar tops. Most foods are
done on the grill and in the deep fat fryer. Afternoons are super slow, evenings will get busy as the season progresses.
Cooks are required to keep kitchen up to state health standards, responsible for letting us know when supplies are
low, keep walk-in cooler & freezer clean & organized and keep other areas related to the kitchen organized.
Each cook would be assigned a specific job in order for avoid duplicate work. ABOUT
COOKING - In the past, we have hired local people for the main cook job and have had workampers work the slowest times,
do prep work, help back up and do a variety of the ancillary duties so that the main cook really just cooks. We’re
looking for small team of 2-3 cooks who will work with each other on the hours to be sure all is covered. We open
in the afternoon. Depending on the crowd/amount of cleanup, we are usually out of there between 9:00-10:30.
After all, Lee and I are up at 5:00ish so no late nights except in rare situations. SERVERS -
Need general waiting type of duties, taking food/drink orders, delivering food/drinks, clean up, cashiering,
etc. In the past though, the busiest times have been assigned to local experienced bartenders so don’t worry,
our plan isn’t to “throw ya in there”! We also need someone who will also do miscellaneous
things like rolling silverware, filling ketchups, etc – usually the afternoon server does this since it is super
slow. MISCELLANEOUS
By the way, these are the types of items we serve: Burgers, burritos, quesadillas, sandwiches, salads, appetizers When the restaurant is ready to close down for the season, need help doing the final cleaning. That happens around mid September (the B&B is still operating though).
These are just examples of what can come up, we just play it by ear and see what happens. Minimal yardwork/cleanup Carpentry-type of repairs Painting Caulking/minor plumbing Lightbulb changing Misc repairs ? ? ? WHEN WE NEED YOU Shipwreck Lee's opens abt mid May & closes before mid September. Sweetgrass is open year round but things don’t really get started until mid to late May. The season starts winding down after Labor Day although September still keeps us busy in the B&B. We would like a commitment for the summer and hopefully at least mid September.
Our arrangement and other “need to know” items. We wish to exchange full RV hook-ups (20 – 30 – 50 amps) for your labor and if you wanted to work longer hours, we would pay the rest in a paycheck. There
are no services or conveniences for children. Your pets are welcome as long as you pick up after them and
they do not disturb others. Although we do get families with kids in the restaurant, we rarely get kids in the B&B.
Next door to us is a laundry facility and convenience store. Wireless is also nearby. Interested in joining our family? You can either email us through this contact page or call us at (605) 343-5351. We will ask all prospective employees to email us a pic of their smiling faces by their RV! Also will need to know RV’s length. A listing of your experiences and references are appreciated. |
